[Review] Tried Boonsiri’s new Bangkok → Koh Tao (Bus + Ferry) route — legit 10/10 experience!
Hey folks,
Just wanted to drop a quick review because I know how confusing it can be figuring out the best way to get from Bangkok to the islands. I recently took the new Boonsiri High Speed Ferries route (VIP Bus + Ferry) from BKK to Koh Tao — and honestly? It was one of the smoothest travel days I’ve had in Thailand.
Here’s the quick rundown:
🌟 What I loved:
1. Punctuality — absolute gold.
This was the biggest win. I’ve used a few different operators before and there’s always some delay. But Boonsiri? Everything ran like clockwork. The bus left exactly on time, the ferry boarded quickly, and we hit Koh Tao right on schedule. Huge thumbs up.
2. Clean & comfy.
Both the VIP bus and ferry were spotless — even the bathrooms, which is rare for this kind of trip. The bus seats were wide and comfy enough to nap in, and the ferry felt new and spacious.
3. Great service.
From the Bangkok staff to the crew at Chumphon Pier, everyone was friendly, organized, and actually seemed to care that people were having a good experience.
4. Small perks that make a difference.
They hand out a snack box + water on the bus, and once you reach Pak Nam Chumphon Pier, there’s a free breakfast box waiting for you. Nothing fancy, but super thoughtful when you’ve been traveling all night. There’s also a little café at the pier if you need a caffeine fix.
❄️ Minor downside:
The bus AC is freezing. Like, full-on Arctic blast. They do give blankets, but if you get cold easily, wear long pants or bring a hoodie.
✅ Final thoughts:
Overall, it was a clean, comfortable, and surprisingly punctual trip — not something you can say often about long-distance travel in Thailand. Everyone on board (locals + tourists) looked genuinely happy with the service.
If you’re heading to Koh Tao and want a stress-free way to get there, I’d 100% recommend the Boonsiri combo ticket.
TL;DR: Boonsiri’s Bangkok → Koh Tao (Bus + Ferry) route is awesome — clean, on time, great staff, free snacks + breakfast box. Only con: super cold AC (blankets help).
