If you loved Langkawi for the combo of beaches, views, food, and nightlife — Thailand’s islands won’t disappoint at all. Since you’re already doing Phi Phi (which has the party + views covered), I’d say pick somewhere that balances relaxation and vibe before that.
Koh Samui sounds like your best bet for the first three nights. It’s got great beaches (Chaweng for nightlife, Lamai for a chill start, Bophut for boutique vibes), tons of affordable beachfront hotels, and easy transport from Bangkok or Surat Thani. The nightlife in Chaweng reminds me of Pantai Cenang — lively bars, beach clubs, street food, but not too wild. You can also rent a scooter and check out waterfall spots or viewpoints like Lad Koh or the Big Buddha area.
Krabi, on the other hand, is more about the views than the party. If you stay in Ao Nang, you’ll get access to those insane limestone cliffs, long-tail boat trips to Railay and Hong Islands, and chill beach bars with sunset views — but the nightlife is pretty tame compared to Samui or Phi Phi. Think more reggae bars and sea breeze, not big dance floors.
If you want something in between Langkawi and Phi Phi vibe-wise — Koh Phangan (especially around Haad Rin or Baan Tai) might also be worth considering. It’s not just the Full Moon Party; off-peak it’s surprisingly relaxed, with great cafes, yoga spots, and beaches like Haad Yuan or Haad Yuan Noi that are beautiful and not overcrowded.
So TL;DR:
🌴 Koh Samui = Best for your “beach + views + nightlife” combo.
🪨 Krabi (Ao Nang) = Best for epic scenery + chill evenings.
🌕 Koh Phangan = Bonus option if you want relaxed beach days but with the potential for good parties too.
If it were me, I’d do Samui → ferry to Phi Phi (via Surat Thani + Krabi route). You’ll start your Thailand trip with beach cocktails and good food, then ramp up to the wildness of Phi Phi. Perfect balance.
